Kevin Hart and Ice Cube lead the lineup in Ride Along, the new film from the director and the producer of the blockbuster comedy Think Like a Man. When a fast-talking guy joins his girlfriend's brother-a hot-tempered cop-to patrol the streets of Atlanta, he gets entangled in the officer's latest case. Now, in order to prove that he deserves his future bride, he must survive the most insane 24 hours of his life. For the past two years, high-school security guard Ben (Hart) has been trying to show decorated APD detective James (Cube) that he's more than just a video-game junkie who's unworthy of James' sister, Angela (Tika Sumpter). When Ben finally gets accepted into the academy, he thinks he's earned the seasoned policeman's respect and asks for his blessing to marry Angela. Knowing that a ride along will demonstrate if Ben has what it takes to take care of his sister, James invites him on a shift designed to scare the hell out of the trainee. But when the wild night leads them to the most notorious criminal in the city, James will find that his new partner's rapid-fire mouth is just as dangerous as the bullets speeding at it. John Leguizamo and Laurence Fishburne join the cast of the action-comedy directed by Tim Story. Review :

Fun, light, and frothy cop buddy romp

I was in the mood for a fun movie with a little humor and action and that's exactly what I got. I checked out the "professional reviews" on mrqe.com before heading out to the theater and most were very negative. This movie was supposedly trite and cliché ridden and the two stars had only "passable chemistry." But, there was one 3/4 stars review coming out of Milwaukee that sold me and proved to be right on point. Sure, the movie had every cliché in the cop buddy action movie genre. But, the two leads had great chemistry, there were some genuinely funny moments and, most importantly, I cared about the characters. Both were good, decent people. I'm glad the film was PG-13 and devoid of the really filthy language and excessive violence that pervades so many R-rated films. I saw a Sunday morning 10:40 am show that was about 3/4 full. The entire theater laughed and seemed to be having a good time, just like me.

Review :

Kevin hart is funny without telling jokes.

Going into this movie I did not know what to really expect. I always argue with people that Kevin Hart is not funny as most stand up comedians but rather it's his silliness and his charisma that makes him funny. He will not tell a lot of jokes but his mannerisms and the way he talks during his parts are what is funny. Now that we have got that part out of the way I would like to say I fully enjoyed this movie. It was much funnier than I thought it would be. Ice Cube does it again with his production company making a movie that is already in talks to spawn a sequel.No matter what ice cube touches it seems like it's worth watching. Even his last Friday movie was pretty much a let down compared to the others but people still watch it when it comes on TV. Kevin Hart is pretty much himself in every movie which can be a good or bad thing depending on the script. i could not stop laughing at how stupid Kevin harts character was. Ice Cube and Kevin hart had very good chemistry together and I hope to see a sequel. You should go see this movie because it is worth it if you want some good laughs.

Review :

You're not good enough for my sister

I see that while Ride Along is still in theaters in a first run we've already got in place a planned sequel with the highly original title of Ride Along 2. Ever since The Godfather no one has ever bothered to come up with original titles for movie sequels. No reason to expect originality from the folks who produced Ride Along.

I'm sure Ride Along will find its share of enthusiasts. It's an amiable comedy about an Atlanta police officer Ice Cube thinking that no one, but no one is good enough for his sister Tika Sumpter. Especially Kevin Hart who is a school security guard and is her current boyfriend. Hart is into video reality games and Ice Cube is going to give him a dose of reality.

Hence he invites him on a Ride Along for a day in his patrol car. A number of funny situations occur as Ice Cube leaves Hart out there on his own to deal with some interesting people. Looming over all of this is Ice Cube's quest to find arms dealer Laurence Fishburne known only as Omar and unknown even to his own crew.

Nothing special, but what confidence these producers have that Ride Along will find an audience. I'm sure it will.
